Dating Standards: How Your Actions Define Your Character

Remember that classic phrase; “Actions speak louder than words”, well the same is to be said in the culture of dating.   “Our actions define who we are. They are the footprints to our hearts”- Author unknown
Your actions, not your intentions or words, are what define your character.  And character gauges ones capability to love, the foundation to any healthy relationship.

It is through our actions that we determine the standards to which people will interact with us.  If you raise the bar high, you will in return attract quality suitors worthy of being relationship material. A dear friend of mine tried online dating and after a few failed attempts she started to give up hope in finding her compatible match.
Her main complaint was the quality of men she was encountering.  After reviewing her profile I quickly determined what she was doing wrong.  Although her written statement was clear and represented her core values and standards, unfortunately her pictures told another story. Almost every pic looked like a photo shoot spread for playboy magazine. What did she expect? She was portraying herself as a sexual object to be devoured by the next willing participant.

If you want to be treated with respect than act classy, if you want monogamy before sex than don’t allow yourself to get groped on the first date.  Remember your actions will determine the image you want people to portray of you.  The best way to turn someone off is by giving mixed messages, and who wants to be called fake.   A person of character, “talks the talk, walks the walk”.

What are some mixed messages you have encountered from a potential prospect?

Just keeping it real!
